 In the process of upgrading mine hoists in a Polish mine belonging to KGHM, ABB provided two DC inverters. The mine hoist runs between the mining operation area and the ground with a length of 1,053 meters. The two systems shorten the running time of the hoist from downhole to the ground. This transformation increased the production capacity of the copper mine by 15% and successfully extended KGHM's service life of those motors that have been used for 30 years.

ABB's medium-voltage inverters help the sucrose plants in Central America not only achieve electricity self-sufficiency, but also earn up to US$1 million in revenue each year by selling excess power to the local grid.
